Name: Marco A. Ramos
City: Los Angeles, CA, 90065
Year joined LAMS club: 2000 or 2001
Favorite Subjects: Historical Spanish and Roman subjects
How I got interested in building models: It fulfilled a need to create with my
my hands, especially scratch building.
First model I ever built: Did you want me to recall some 60 years ago?
(You must be kidding Michael!)
Method of painting I prefer: House Painting, (just kidding!) Oil Paints
Most challenging model kit I ever built: The scratch built Wells Fargo
Stagecoach that received a Gold medal at the SCAHMS show.
The finished model kit I am most proud of: The K9 Crusader Dog and the Stagecoach because of the appreciation from my peers.
The worst project I ever did: I can’t recall, so I am taking the 5th on this one.
Since joining the LAMS Club I have learned “how to” or “improved”: I have gained so much knowledge of techniques, but most of all the unselfish sharing of modeling information from the members.
Name something you would like to build or model that you’ve never attempted: A first century Roman soldier in armor. I am currently working on this project.
Did you ever destroy a model? If so, how did you do it? Yes! I cursed it to death.
Have you entered any competitions? Yes.
If yes, which ones? The Southern California Historical Miniature Society
Received any Awards or Recognition? (Don’t be modest)
Yes, Bronze, Silver and Gold
Every modeler purchases more kits than they can build. How many kits are in the garage, closet, or storage waiting to be built? I have about 20 waiting in the wings.
What is the one kit that you’ve searched for that you still can’t find?
I am a scratch builder so I do not long for any particular kit, with the exception of a Hinchliffe WWI British 18 pdr Field Gun.
What is the best part of the club for you? The members in the club.
